Mental Health Campaign

One important aspect of the Sewanee Experience is having emotional and mental support throughout the social and academic journey of college. With the Mental health campaign, we want to provide dialogue and resources to support a fair and inspiring experience for all Sewanee Students.

The Mental Health Campaign is led by Benjamin Csazar '24, Sophomore Representative. The Mental Health Campaign is working with SGA and CAPS (Counseling and Psychological Services) to make the conversation of mental health awareness more accessible on campus. We are also striving to create more visibility for CAPS and dissolve the stigma around mental health assistance. One goal for the future is to facilitate a dialogue for mental health awareness to become a bigger part of religious life, which can be done through coffee table discussions with different student and clerical organizations and CAPS. This initiative is aiming to address the stigma existing within religious groups about seeking help with mental health, and that offering different spiritual programs and opportunities can increase engagement for those who might be afraid to seek help from CAPS counselors directly.

"With mental health being key to students’ academic and social success, and the more we can offer to the student body with their mental wellbeing, the better we can all perform."
